D-DAY 75 Dakota flight
Hi everyone. I have been able to get Wednesday afternoon off and I'm planning to head to Colchester with the camera. Just wondering if anyone else is about and would like to meet up. I believe they're expected over Colchester approximately 2:15

Re: D-DAY 75 Dakota flight
I will join you in spirit but will be doing my photographs in Sudbury at about 2 pm with the hope that they fly overhead. I think that I will go to the water meadows down past the leisure centre as it is a wide open space and if by chance they don’t come over I’ll hunt for a kingfisher or at least a duck or swan, so it won’t be completely wasted.

This is what they have posted for flight route. They will be in formation between the red lines, therefore I think you will be perfectly placed Bruce

Thats handy, they’ll be flying right over my garden

And mine!
Although there is a field on top of a hill with open skies nearby so I will wander over there.

Oh hum! The best part of 2 hours spent at a cold and windy Abbey Field in Colchester waiting for the much publicised 34 Dakota’s flying over the Barracks in formation. Turned out to be rather a let down as they came by in dribs and drabs and about 3 miles off course.
My camera wasn’t troubled.

I arrived just after 1pm at Sudbury water meadows. They flew over sometime after 4pm and about 1/2 mile away, so much cropping to do even though shot at 500mm.
At least I saw them.
